Scoot F.A.Q.

Q. What engine oil should I use in my four-stroke?

Your scooter's owner's manual probably contains a recommendation for the appropriate motor oil as well as how much oil should be used. Sometimes Chinese manuals can be confusing and even provide multiple specs for the same engine, so below are commonly used specs for Chinese four-stroke scooters. I would advise checking your dipstick as you add oil to see how much is needed.

139QMB / GY6 50
15W40
600-750ml
GY6 125 - 150
15W40
750-900ml
*Lower viscosity oils may be used for cold winter riding.

Motorcycle specific oils are not required for scooters that use belt driven CVT transmissions. If your scooter has a wet clutch lubricated by engine oil, then you need to use a motorcycle specific oil. Quality synthetic or semi-synthetic oils are generally preferred, along with frequent change intervals.
