Scoot F.A.Q.Q. What oil should I use in the final drive transmission (gearbox)?
Most 49-150cc scooters use 100-150ml of gear oil in the final drive transmission (gearbox). Most use 70W90 to 80W90 gear oil. Some state motor oil as an alternative, but gear oil is specifically made for the task and I recommend a quality synthetic gear oil. In such small amounts the price difference between synthetic and petroleum based is negligible.
