Since you're here, you probably already know what the C-One and RC-One are. Just in case you don't; they are performance engine packages developed by Malossi. They are based on Piaggio 49cc two-stroke engines, with some changes to address performance, strength and reliability. They are made with enough material to support large strokes and big bores and their flange mounting option for cylinders gives them greater freedom for cylinder designs that produce more power.
RC-One engines are 94cc (actually 93.4cc), with a 52mm bore and 44mm stroke. C-One engines are 70cc (actually 69.93cc), with a 47.6mm bore and 39.3mm stroke. The RC-One is only setup for flange mount cylinders. The C-One can use both flange mount and many Piaggio cylinders.
Even though the engines are based on a Piaggio design, they come in both Minarelli and Piaggio versions to make it easier to swap them into popular two-stroke scooters. The Piaggio cases have bottom motor mounts, the ability to use either drum or disc rear brake setups and the appropriate axle for Piaggio applications. The Minarelli versions use top motor mounts, are setup only for rear disc brakes, and come with an axle that fits some Minarelli wheels. Piaggio kits come in versions for 10" wheels or 12"-13" wheels, while Minarelli kits are only listed for 12"-13" wheels.
Both the C-One and RC-One can be purchased in package versions that include most parts needed to get the engine together, but they do not include every part and they are not assembled. If you don't want to assemble the engine, you will need to find someone that you trust to build it or find a retailer that assembles and sells complete engines. You can also buy individual components and piece together your own custom package. If you plan to use most of the package contents, it is probably best to purchase a package because it is discounted compared to buying each component individually. As I'm writing this, the current price for the RC-One package at one retailer is $3,699.99 (USD). It would cost $4,478.24 (USD) at the same retailer to purchase the same components individually. That's $778.25 more by purchasing parts separately and over a 19% difference in price. Be sure to plan carefully if you are doing a custom build so you can get the best deal.

| Rear Wheel And Disc Brake | |
| Depending on what configuration of the C-One or RC-One you're swapping into which scooter, you may or may not need some rear wheel and brake related parts. The Piaggio setups come with options that work with drum and disc wheels of various sizes. The Minarelli version of the RC-One will require a 12" or 13" rear wheel and rear disc brake. If your current setup doesn't meet those requirements, you'll need some swap parts. Most people use the rear wheel from a Yamaha Aerox 50 two-stroke. A hub mounts to the axle from the engine, and the disc brake rotor and wheel mount to the hub. You'll need an axle nut and washer, wheel mounting bolts and brake disc bolts. You'll also need a rear brake caliper setup and the hose and master cylinder/lever to actuate it. It can be another substantial expense, but you'll probably appreciate the improved rear brake with the power that these engines have. The components below are what I'm using to swap a Minarelli version RC-One into a Chinese scooter that was equipped with a 1E40QMB horizontal minarelli engine. What you use may vary. | |
